Editors were invited to a special 8:30 a.m. breakfast before the shopping centre opened to get their fill of the new merch and snack on breakfast delights. And we all received a lovely little gift at the end, a cobalt-blue stone and gilt bracelet and J.Crew’s Fall 2012 catalogue: an editorial-looking delight! One of my favourite runway models of all time, Tao Okamoto, and a beauty that has been streetstyled religiously over the past couple of runway seasons: Caroline Issa, Tank magazine’s founder and editor-in-chief.

Take a peek at the catalogue below, filled with cashmere, cute separates and all of the chic we’ve come to expect and love from J.Crew.

OK, so a new French leader isn’t quite the same as a new clothing store—but isn’t it?

April 77 (a style leader in its own right) opened the 7-9 rue de Charonne store in the 11th district (metro Ledru-Rollin / Bastille), a super-trendy area for all kinds of chic types.

Even better: April77 is working with the group of Parisian shoegazers called Noise Creation and have two really cute limited edition tie-dye T-shirts to buy—”April” T-shirt in gray tie dye and “Noise” T-shirt in tie dye multi-colours.

This brand re-emphasizes the importance of the luxury T-shirt. The French-based company founded in Paris by brothers Laurent and Arik Bitton, has gained so much popularity in recent months, it has joined the ranks of other haute T-shirt pushers like LnA and T by Alexander Wang.

French brand IRO and its loungy, soft shirts and separates are showing off French style dressing the way we admire it: effortlessly sexy, confident and unabashedly dedicated to quality fabric.

The line has received the seal of approval (not to mention several sample requests) from Kate Moss  and can be purchased at boutiques like Thistle & Clover in Brooklyn and Shopbop, and the 50-piece men’s collection has been plucked up by buyers at Scoop and Ron Herman.

While Marc Jacobs summers in St. Barts with his beau Lorenzo Martone (amidst swirling rumours of a seaside wedding between the two) fashion’s North American l’enfant terrible still managed to have time to show Canada the love. The new limited-edition Mr. and Miss. Marc ski lift tee, launched exclusively worldwide at Holt Renfrew on January 25.

This sweet sketch of Mr. and Miss. Marc on a ski lift doesn’t make us physically warmer (hello, -17C last week), but at least we can add yet another designer tee to wear under our many, many layers. The shirt is a perfect gift: it comes enclosed in a Marc by Marc Jacobs gift box (too late for Christmas, but just in time for Valentine’s Day, wink*).

The Mr. and Miss Marc ski lift tee is $65 CAD and available at Holt Renfrew stores in white and dapper grey, in sizes extra small (for those who like the fitted look) and large for those still sporting the boyfriend trend.
