Black and Blue: House of Holland x Levi’s
What do you get when you mix an American denim granddaddy and a bold UK brand? Besides the wonderful opportunity to use a recipe lede, you get edgy buckled trucker jackets with contrasting straps and lux high-shine gold hardware.
Just when you thought the denim-on-denim trend had dwindled, leave it to a pair of fashion mainstay labels to revive the jeanswear movement. Levi’s and House of Henry Holland put their heads together for an eight-piece women’s and men’s collection for Spring/Summer 2010 and out of the creative sandbox came black denim straps on washed-out indigo jean with peek-a-boo cutouts on jackets and jean boustier dresses. Pair the bottoms and outerwear with black-and-cream horizontal striped crew necks and it’s a perfect match. The new capsule has been a huge hit with Brit babe Pixie Geldof (who has been sporting several of the pieces at London parties) and has taken the High Street set by storm and is affordably available at Harvey Nichols and Selfridges for a cool £55. It could be The Misshapes frontwoman, Leigh Lezark‘s blackout eyeliner, it could be the blinding hi-gloss contrast of multi-denim on bright white, but I’m actually liking this collabo! See for yourself, below.
