The style tutorials continue!
Our friends at Grip Ltd. shared their space (including that crazy-amazing big orange slide) and listened and learned about the trends of the spring-summer season.
What I loved the most about this particular trend session is that the crowd had lots of style questions. My favourite one:
“If I’m a redhead, can I wear red?”
The answer? Well, of course you can. The trick is to keep the red on the bottom half of your body (red jeans, shorts or a maxi skirt will do) and then pair your awesome red separate with a pastel top in peach, pistachio or robin’s egg blue.
It may seem counter intuitive—you’ll be fighting a strong fashion urge to match your reds with navy horizontal stripes, I know—but hold back. You’ll see how this primary and pastel colour combo can really work.

Ad-guys and gals got a special treat at JWT Advertising with the help of yours truly, the lovely Julia Seidl () and French Connection Canada.
To the tune of a live deejay and runway show we talked trends, fits and fabrics for Spring 2013.
What did I have to say? Well, I made a few off-colour jokes (as I do) and I waxed poetic on the four main trends for spring: black-and-white, floral, printed pants and bold colour. So many wearable, wonderful pieces that I want to buy for myself. Plus, there was a surprise sneak peak of the Fall 2013 collection after all of the spring fabulousness. Couldn’t get enough! The local Toronto models were decked out in chicly styled ensembles and got lots of love from a very fashionable crowd.
Look out for the next one I’m hosting with French Connection this month. Post to come on FashionTK!
We dissect this black-and-white trend trio: cropped tuxedo pants, an animal-print shift dress and a breezy summer frock. Check, check and check!
An elegant and subtly sexy way to wear floral at the office.

Say yes to swing skirts and don’t look back.
A suit jacket, sweater vest and trousers in different yet wonderfully complimentary charcoals. Super sharp.
This was my favourite look: The skirt suit is here to stay.
One way to wear the printed pant look: keep your top neutral and let the print speak for itself. The peplum detail adds a little bit of flirt—just the right amount.

French Connection has released delightful his and hers video adverts for the new Spring 2010 line. The clips are funny takes on the typical Parisian stereotypes of French men and women: the stubborn yet stylish downtown dandy, the bored but beautiful (and painfully thin) Parisienne. Incroyable!

A big thanks to French Connection for sending me this gorgeous golden double breasted, silver buttoned wool coat.
You can imagine my joy and reaction (akin to a Price Is Right contestant) when the doorbell rang and a stout yet friendly courier gent placed this gift in my hands.
It’s bright, it’s oversized, it’s the Winter blues remedy I’ve been longing for.
Black jackets be damned, welcome sunny shades!
